Lambert Steals my Schtick
Dammit, I’m the Iraqi Electricity Production Blogger! But Tim Lambert’s tabular history of the “good news” on the electricity front is a useful contribution to the field. His summary:
Due to lack of maintenance, electricity production fell from 9000 MW in 1991 to 4400 MW before the war. Since then, there have been many announcements of improved generating capacity and production has fallen further to 3560 MW.
Sadly, Dana Gioia’s poem, “News from 1984,” is not online.

Suck it up, Jim. You’re still the Iraqi Schoolhouse Painting Blogger of choice.

Hey, I just thought of something. You know how the hawkish blogs say we never hear about all the schools being painted? They’re not telling us either! I mean ALL the schools. Every single school that gets painted, by name and location. With details. What colors? How many coats?
.
I see a blogburst, coordinated by Chrenkoff. Each hawk posts about one school.

Why not? Good News is distributed by volume, not quality.
.
It would be at least as interesting as Chrenkoff’s standard fare (sample: “Administration officials say that the Lower Baghdad Heights Neighborhood Association held a bake sale last Thursday where the equivalent of almost $23.14 US was raised to buy a replacement air filter for the neighborhood emergency generator. One of the cakes was decorated with the phrase ‘USA A-OKAY’”)

Hawkblogs should each adopt an Iraqi school, and provide funds for paint and brushes.
