If It’s Not Beyond Parody There’s Hope for the Republic Yet
Sure, prior to 9/11, it was wrong for Michael Jackson to rape the shit out of little kids, and I am on the record saying so. But that innocent world is gone forever.
I have to say that the Brit Hume statement lampooned in the first item doesn’t offend me. I think there’s been some willful context-dropping from the original reports. But Tomorrow’s Powerline Today is nevertheless brilliant all the way to the bottom:
Sometimes, I wonder how much better off we’d be if, instead of wasting our time examining problems rationally, and trying to think up logical and effective ways of solving them, we’d just totally hate them. Like, suppose it was dark. Instead of noodling around with candles and what have you, we just got really, really, REALLY mad at the dark, and maybe even cursed it. We could make a list of 18 things that we hate about the dark – it’s hard to see, it’s easy to stub your toe, it’s full of werewolves, etc. – and just like totally hated on the dark until we couldn’t breathe, and went around screaming at people to stop distracting themselves with matches and lighters and whatnot, and just get to the serious business of hating the dark. (Or are they, in fact, objectively pro-werewolf?)

The thing that worries me is Dick Cheney’s premature support of raping the shit out of little kids. Some people say that this pute him ahead of the curve and it’s all good, but I worry that it displays a little streak of ideological independence especially worrisome at times like this.

You know, the commies were against raping the shit out of little kids. I’m pretty sure Osama is, too. Funny how you “antiwar” types keep gravitating back toward their line.
