Final Stretch
Soon we will leave Santee Island and the iffy wifi connection that allowed last night’s blogging behind us for the last leg of our journey home. A car journey down I-95 through the American southeast is a priceless opportunity to see a wide variety of this country’s many kinds of swampland, from the blackwater thickets of Virginia and North Carolina to the tidal grass marshes of South Carolina and Georgia to the tangled broth that is much of Florida, each with its overlapping varieties of blood-drinking insects and deadly reptiles. Not for the first time I find myself wondering, Is this a great country or what?
First installment of trip chronicle apparently was hidden in draft mode until last night. I fixed the date so it would appear in the proper order.
