Fore! (Sp?)

Franklin Foer takes over the editorship of The Non-Republic, as former editor Peter Beinart leaves “to sit and wish really really hard for success in Iraq.”

Okay, that’s not a real quote. But this is. Foer:

“The New Republic deserves its self-seriousness . . . ”

He goes on to give a couple of reasons that amount to, We sure do like our mirrors.

NYT story (requires reg.).

I agitated a year ago for you and MY to have a co-editorship. But apparently TNR doesn’t take the ravings of a non-subscribing pseudonymous commenter on a small blog into account when it make these decisions. Fucking elitist bastards!

That’s okay. I can tell you that standing in front of their offices with your pants down screaming ME FOR EDITOR ME ME ME!!! doesn’t work either.

    It’s very clubby.

Jim, get one of those huge bobble head mascot costumes (like the Burger King guy). That will make it look like your head is swollen by a factor of 5 or so, which is just enough to be a junior ’editor’ with The New Republic.
