I’m Glad You’re Dead

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi apparently really is dead. Gandalf pointed out that many are dead who deserve life. This won’t be one of those. An awful, murderous man - the kind who makes us hope there really is an afterlife with a Hell for the bad people. I doubt it will make much difference to the future of Iraq, where the problems are about structure rather than personality, but to say that Zarqawi was a wolf to Americans and Iraqi civilians alike would be to slander wolves.

Via OTB.

UPDATE: Christopher Allbritton thinks that this may in fact be “a big, big success for the Iraqis and the Americans.”

UPDATE: Fixed link to Allbritton piece.

I’ve posted this comment elsewhere but:

Congratulations to President Bush for enabling Zarqawi to become one of the most successful terrorists in history and then killing him.

    “A Good Week…For Cowboy Unilateralists”

In light of President Bush’s victory lap-ette around Baghdad’s Green Zone inspired by the impending burial of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi - and the commensurate ‘Zarqawi’s death is a watershed’ triumphalism sprouting up from so many f…
