I’m Glad You’re Dead
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi apparently really is dead. Gandalf pointed out that many are dead who deserve life. This won’t be one of those. An awful, murderous man - the kind who makes us hope there really is an afterlife with a Hell for the bad people. I doubt it will make much difference to the future of Iraq, where the problems are about structure rather than personality, but to say that Zarqawi was a wolf to Americans and Iraqi civilians alike would be to slander wolves.
UPDATE: Christopher Allbritton thinks that this may in fact be “a big, big success for the Iraqis and the Americans.”
UPDATE: Fixed link to Allbritton piece.

I’ve posted this comment elsewhere but:
Congratulations to President Bush for enabling Zarqawi to become one of the most successful terrorists in history and then killing him.
