A top endocrinologist I once met believes that there should be two Olympics, one of them an open (drug) Olympics.
If you’re looking for victims of bureaucracy, Brian Oldfield set a shot put record in 1975 which was not broken until 1987. It was never recognized because he was one of the first to turn pro, without permission. He also changed shot-putting technique by circling like a discus thrower.
