Did You Know
That Iraq and Syria lacked formal diplomatic relations from 1982 until – last week? Syria ruptured relations over alleged Iraqi attempts to provoke rioting in Damascus. Syria then cozied up to Iran during the The Gulf War That Lacked American Troops; then Syria nominally participated in the anti-Iraq coalition that threw Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait. Interesting that Saddam is supposed, in infra-Cheneyesque circles, to have sent all his WMD to his Syrian pals.
Of course, the lack of formal diplomatic relations don’t make the WMD claims absurd on their face. All kinds of sub rosa communication goes on, between Arab nations and Israel, Arab nations that don’t officially get along, once upon a time between the Reagan White House and the Iranian secret service. It can be very hard for Hulk to know just whom to smash sometimes.
