The Restoring the Constitution Act of 2007

By Mona
.
Tomorrow, Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) will introduce The Restoring the Constitution Act of 2007 — A Bill to Provide for the Effective Prosecution of Terrorists and to Guarantee Due Process Rights. (Check out link for You Tube clip of Sen. Dodd elaborating on the RCA.) Known (by me) co-sponsors thus far include Democratic Senators Feingold, Leahy and Menendez. Republicans, we can’t hear you! Hello?
.
This legislation would undo the abominable provisions of the Military Commissions Act by restoring habeas corpus rights, prohibiting torture and upholding the Geneva Conventions in American law. In other words, if passed, this bill would return the United States to the company of civilized nations.
.
Now would be an ideal time to contact your senators, and demand support of Dodd’s legislation.

Not quite. If passed and obeyed, this bill would be a good start.

If it doesn’t have a fancy acronym like NET or PATRIOT or CAN-SPAM or COBRA, does it even count as a bill any more?

    RESTORECON ‘07!

(That’s capitalization, not yelling. So you can take your fingers out of your ears.)
