The Right-wing Continues to Grok “Islamofascists”

By Mona

Another day in America-hating Angry Left Bush-supporter, GOP extremism. CNN’s conservative commentator Glenn Beck finds common cause with Islamic jihadists, kinda like Dinesh D’Souza, who continues to hold vaunted places in right-wing institutions. Declares Beck:
BECK: You know, there`s a new poll out that Muslims, the higher educated Muslims in the Middle East are more likely to be extremists? More and more Muslims now hate us all across the world, and it really has not a lot to do with anything other than our morals.
.
The things that they were saying about us were true. Our morals are just out the window. We`re a society on the verge of moral collapse. And our promiscuity is of the charts.
.
Now I don`t think that we should fly airplanes into buildings or behead people because of it, but that`s the prevailing feeling of Muslims in the Middle East. And you know what? They`re right.
Later in the show, Beck wonders whether there are “sunshine and lollipops coming from my head.” He needs to think further about what substances make up his fetid brain. (Via Balloon Juice.)
.
Seriously, what explains a media culture that continues to respectfully treat Dinesh D’Souza (whose anti-American, “we are so immoral we brought 9/11 on ourselves” screed is so popular with the right it made #15 on the NYT Bestseller list), Glenn Beck or Glenn Reynolds as anything other than the radical extremists they are, while fringe, impotent far leftists like Ward Churchill or some random “left” blogger generate all sorts of overwrought condemnation?
.
If CNN (presumably) wouldn’t give Churchill a regular platform, why bestow one on the likes of Beck?

Hmm. For some reason he fails to mention one small other factor: those hundreds of thousands of tons of American ordinance that has been used in such Muslim countries as Afghanistan and Iraq.

Apparently some place where they can’t spell “ordnance,” either. :–)

You’re a bit off the mark, BruceR:

those hundreds of thousands of tons of American ordinance

was referring to big government and all its rules. This is a libertarian blog, after all.

If CNN (presumably) wouldn’t give Churchill a regular platform, why bestow one on the likes of Beck?

    This is rhetorical, right?
