The pics look good for his campaign a year and a half from now, when we (if we) forget the present context.

He looks like a leader out there!

Soon others will follow - you’ve got to, if you want to be president.

It might work like this: unannounced to the press, you arrive at the green zone, pack your self into an armoured column, drive to a spot just cleared in the ’surge’; walk around for 5 minutes and your on the plane back to Washington.

Soon Washington will announce another troop surge; this one to protect the column of presidential hopefuls making the photo op.

“I still don’t see what people see in this guy. ”

Back in 2000, he schmoozed the press corp; apparently the presidential press pool of the national media are such suckers that simply having some ‘honest’ talks with them fools them for years. Of course, Bush helped, both by making the other GOP guy look better, and by providing some opps for McCain to pretend to morality.

Don’t forget that he briefly and ineffectually opposed some torture once! There’s nothing that endears you to the media like Seeming To Take A Stand.
