The First Reveal
ABC insists that “US and Pakistani intelligence sources” confirm that the US has been “encourag[ing] and advis[ing]” a Pakistani guerrilla group involved in cross-border attacks on Iran since 2005.
We’ve suspected for years that the US began a covert war against Iran quite awhile ago. I’m sure that it will turn out that the US has been sponsoring attacks inside Iran since before 2005 – possibly as early as summer or fall 2003, when the US decided to maintain the anti-Iranian MEK on Iraqi soil.

Christ. Free Baluchistan indeed. I’d better look again at that much-mocked Ralph Peters map of the New Middle East to see where else we’re intervening.

Um, would this constitute a casus belli for Iran?

What could possibly go wrong if we support this guy?

ABC was running a “Iran will have nukes by 2009!!!!111!!!” story recently.
I wonder if they’re being played to foment war by giving *both* sides casus belli.

The immediate question that popped into my head when I saw this was how does this relate to Seymour Hersh’s Jan ‘05 claims of covert American operations in Iran.
Or perhaps I’m behind the curve.

I’d just like to say, deeply uselessly, that based on nothing more than bits and pieces, tiny clues and hints, and — most of all — general knowledge of the history of the CIA, special operations, and covert actions by the U.S. government, my purely subjective opinion is that I would be deeply surprised were this not the case.
It’s nothing resembling proof. But I expect memoirs in under fifteen years.

If we don’t support the terrorists, the terrorists have won.

I’m told that they’ve been at war with Oceania since 1979.

Jim,
Wow. Good thing we’re maintaining that moral high ground. I just can’t wait to see the mental contortions from the war crowd explaining why being a state sponsor of terrorism is in fact the only manly way to fight those evil…state sponsors of terrorism…
Nothing to see here folks…these aren’t the droids you’re looking for…

Iran scheme…
Remember a couple years back when Seymour Hersh claimed that the US was already fighting a covert war against Iran?……
