(Updated) from the Forgotten War Against the Imprisoned Forgotten
By Mona
You go, Ariannna. She writes a very fine post regarding the myriad inequities and outrages generated by the “war” on (people who use some) drugs, and asks why it is not “an issue Democratic presidential candidates deem worthy of their attention?”
.
However, in the interest of balance, I also give you Pete Guither’s list of excellent reasons not to listen to Arianna or any of us anti-prohibitionists. A few of his observations:
Drug legalizers want your children to use crack. $25,000 a year in prison costs is a reasonable price for taxpayers to pay to keep a pot smoker from getting stoned on his couch.
And most compellingly :
DEA agents all receive extensive medical training and are much better qualified than doctors to advise you regarding medication.
(This was Pete’s, ahem, April 1 post.)
****** Update: Silly me did forget that last January I announced that, actually, one Democratic candidate has come out strongly against the drug war — Dennis Kucinich.

I kind of prefer Aminita Muscaria, fly agaric…
Soak it in wine for 3 days and nights, and you will meet the Deity, hear colors and see sounds.
Soak it in milk, and put it out in your stable, and all the flys in your stable will die.
