(Update) LGF Invasion at UO

By Mona

Mea culpa. I found Reason staffer Michael Young’s demonstration of Pelosi Derangement Syndrome today — over at Hit ‘n Run — most distatasteful and said so. Further, I took strong moral exception to his praise of LGF and its notoriously vile comments section, and linked in Young’s comments to a few of my posts indirectly spotlighting the absurdity of LGF’s position on Pelosi’s head gear. And so, now we have LGFers here, who represent what you’d get if you took the worst of Usenet’s viciousness and put it on steroids.
.
Young wrote as follows (links omitted):
Writing in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Claudia Rosett observed that Pelosi was “nuts” to visit Damascus. In the National Review, the editors thought the speaker raised “the white flag all over the Middle East.” In the Weekly Standard, Fred Barnes got a few good licks in. Here is my own contribution in the Daily Star, which Little Green Footballs was kind enough to link to. The comments section makes it interesting. In another post, LGF pointed to Pelosi’s growing fan club in the Middle East.
My position on LGF and its comments section was stated in two comments in Young’s thread, one saying in part:
Let me add, LGF had a total effing hissy fit over Nancy Pelosi’s headscarf worn at a mosque in Syria — which meltdown I indirectly addressed and showed to be insanity here and here.(I will not link to LGF in my own posts because that usually generates an invasion of vile Little Green Fascists, as happened to a blogger I cite in my first post, causing her to have to close her comments.) [The invasion here is now occurring in those two linked threads.]
And:
Mr Young: Should it ever happen that LGF would approvingly link to one word that I wrote, I would seek psychiatric help based on evidence that I had had a personality disintegration and was trending toward xenophobic authoritarianism, if not genocidal proto-fascism…..
.
Yes, this entire comment is ad hominem — I no longer attempt to reason with those who are anything but repulsed by LGF, considering you beyond hope. And quite the odd “libertarian.”
So, sorry folks, but look on the bright side — with all the LGFers here, we have seen a display of the well-known, uncivil, Angry Left; a proud member of Charles Johnson’s community, one LGFascist — who entered his/her email address as “fuckumona at fuckumona.com” — had a very special message for me! Oh, a pox on that Angry, Angry Left and all their pottymouths!

****

Update:

Dhimmicrat Matt Yglesias has hisself some giggles at Michael Young’s suggestion that the, er, famously cerebral LGF comments are just that in the LGF thread Young describes as “interesting,” my emphasis:

The sheer number of people who believe Pelosi should be prosecuted under the Logan Act is fascinating. I wonder why they think the political impact of an unpopular president using a Dead Letter law to seek the incaraceration of a popular House Speaker over a policy dispute would be. You get the hilarious assertion that the GOP “can’t keep relying on Coulter, Hannity and Rush to get the facts out there” and needs to do more to get its message out. We learn that congressional Democrats have managed “hogtied [Bush] on every aspect of this war.” Someone analogizes Pelosi to a stripper. One refers to “the traitorous chick with the Hijab spewing lies to our enemy.” Several commenters state that Pelosi wore a burqa. Another refers to Pelosi as “the Caliphellator.” Terms like “stunning cunt” and “tw*t.” Yet another suggests Pelosi may want to “give chavez a hand job.

No, altho they are not done yet. However, these infestations do usually burn out within 24 hours, after Pontificus Maximus Johnson directs their gibbering bile elsewhere, as is his habit.

Ironically, in at least the Alanis sense, I’m thinking about spending my last night of bachelorhood before the family gets back seeing 300, more or less just to see it. And here comes one of the LGFleas with the handle “Leonidas.” Cool! If I were going to choose a handle, I’d want it to honor a totalitarian boy-raper. But I got to thinking how, as the polls show, the LGFringe is dwindling down toward the pop. 300 range, all of them with their own warblogs, and how the country has moved on. And it’s like, they’re a remnant alright, but the “horde” – aka the rest of the country – isn’t attacking; they’re just headed off to places more interesting and sane, leaving the Fringe to hop up and down upset that they’re getting cheated out of the big battle we can’t be bothered to give them.

I’m sure the one thing the Johnsonian Tendency never expected to be was trivial.

300 seemed a lot like a puppet show. Basically there are next to no real characters with everyone filling an archetype thats forcibly moved about. It makes Sin City look that much better.

It looks like LGF’s main focus and purpose is simply to expose and report what the fascist muslims are actually doing and saying.

And Mr Johnson’s own comments seem typically to be very brief and consistently moderate. Yes, he has an opinion about fascist muslims – they are ultra-violent and truly evil.

After 30 violent years of muslim kidnapings and airplane hijackings and worldwide bombings of civilians, random beheadings and suicide attacks, who is superficial enough to doubt this?

So how, exactly, does exposing the worst, most violent fascism in the world for what it is make *him* a fascist?

Yes, there are some commenters there who go overboard, this happens on all the big blogs. Those people should be ignored, or turned off. LGF is not nearly the worst in this regard.

I think you’re getting your knickers in a twist at the wrong people, Mona.

Fred, since you’ve worked to adopt a reasonable pose, I’ll note that LGF commenters are here because your beloved Mr. Johnson sent them here in hopes of forcing us to “shut down comments.” The “overboard” commenters have all the independence of the Wicked Witch of the West’s flying monkeys. I’ll bet you yourself are here only because “Mr. Johnson” pointed you vaguely in this direction – you just wandered a bit further into the poppy fields. The whole Rogue Commenter Theory just doesn’t, er, fly.

Actually we come here to experience first hand the bitter, and frankly bizarre rantings of our ‘betters’. It is fascinating what group thinking can accomplish. Mona’s anti-feminist thought streams only reinforce the perspective of those who wish to protect mankind from psychotics of all stripes. I suggest the readers here attempt to view honest debate. Go to LGF.

Funny how none of these vitriolic attacks on LGF never actually quote any of the purported “hate speech” alleged to be there. I’ve never seen anything of that sort there- unless LGF was quoting a racist or anti-semitic attack from al-Jazeera, Daily Kos, or some other hate-filled site.

If I want to see true vile hatred, venom and, for lack of a better word, idiocy I go read the Huffington Post or the Daily Kos. Many of those that comment seem to be posting knee jerk purely emotional words. Many posts don’t even have a worthwhile thought. Just Bush lied. Bush is Hitler. Dick Cheney is a draft dodger. Typical responses have little, if anything, that is relevant to the topic they are commenting on.

Perhaps one of the reasons LGF must be stopped is that the links available from LGF lead to other sources. Many times the direct link from LGF to the story’s source leads to other related sources. Following the link tree can lead to an expanded knowledge base. For this LGF must be banned. We can not have too many people learning too much. If that happens true facts have a nasty habit of becoming public knowledge. I even saw recent posts, that to paraphrase, had some guy in a green helmet poking his head through a hole made by a rocket in the roof of an ambulance. I think the ambulance was driven by a Somali taxi driver transporting an Imam that was mortally wounded following his vicious extraction from a US Airways flight at the Minneapolis-non-Islamic associate of a prophet that predated Muhammad-Airport.

    Fred,

    You wrote,

So how, exactly, does exposing the worst, most violent fascism in the world for what it is make *him* a fascist?

So the question you’re asking is, how can someone whose political philosophy is based around furious opposition to an evil, foreign ideology (and those members of his own socieity that he deems to be sympathetic to that ideology) be, himself, in the throes of an evil ideology?

Um, have you ever read any history books about the 1930s and 40s?

    “reading comprehension issue?”

Nonsense. LGFers read quite well. It’s just that it’s hard to see through spit-speckle foam on the screen whenever they start thinking about the Protocols of the Elders of Wahab forcing Minneapolis Airport to become Muhammad airport full of alcohol-free taxis that will bomb us all. Funny how I’ve seen this all the time, random comments are enough.

funny how LGFers concede there are *some* out of line genocidal comments but never cite Charles Johnson distancing himself or rebuking them.

The more I see of the LGFers the more I think we really are looking at some kind of new mental disorder…the projection of their own behavior on others, along with the total inability to see their own ideology clearly…it’s sort of stunning in its intensity.
