The Rest of the Story

Glenn Greenwald doesn’t make it quite clear that Dave Gaubatz is a paranoid, racist loon. No doubt one of our residual LGF bigots will pop up soon to explain that “Islam isn’t a race” and insist that we go on a scavenger hunt for some word that captures the exact shade of their bigotry in terms acceptable to them, right after we find the left-handed smoke shifter and the key to wind the sundial, which they think is probably in the camp kitchen but we’d better check.

But actually, “racist” will do just fine, since his organization, Saneworks, sees fit to publish anti-immigrant screeds regretting that

White Christians were at the founding of this nation a distinct people and privileged as such. Men of means among this people were given the opportunity for representative government. This is, for those of you flinching, not a thesis or “viewpoint”; this is historical fact.

After the Civil War, this changed; with the move into the 20th century this change became a wholesale reformation. Today, you cannot speak of Christianity in the public sphere and if you mention “white” and “Christians” in the same sentence you will be set upon as a despicable racist by every “fair-minded” public person. And, this phenomenon extends far beyond race.

Ah, but what about the paranoid part? Gaubatz’s “analysis” of a recent shooting spree in Salt Lake City gives you the flavor. I’m fondest of this passage:

The first mistake the FBI made was not insisting the computer of Sulejman Talovic be seized. This, despite the fact that there is ample evidence Talovic was savvy with computers. To take the computer days later simply means the evidence could have been tampered with and lost forever. (Update: Now we’re told by the SLCPD that the 18-year old had no computer. Are we to believe he had no access to one anywhere?)

The best news of all is that, according to his personal website, “Since returning from Iraq, Dave has lectured to more than 4000 U.S. Law Enforcement officers and hundreds of security professionals in Basic Investigative Arabic and Counter-terrorism issues related to Islamic Extremist Terrorist Groups.” Actually the best news of all is that I’m pretty sure “4000″ is a tiny fraction of all the law enforcement officers and security professionals in the United States. But competing for best news is

Dave Gaubatz was the 1st U.S. Civilian Federal Agent sent into Iraq at the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

which would explain an awful lot about what went wrong there.

Wow, that SANE intro sounds like something from a Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap label. Has Gaubatz been diagnosed with schizophrenia?

The first sentence of their website’s main post was enough. I like it when people don’t waste my time. Those subtle whackjobs are a pain.

Jeez, can’t they just merge with Stormfront and save some bandwidth? There are recipes, knitting patterns, gardening tips, and YouTube videos of kindergarten graduations that need the InterTube capacity. Heck, there are self-published movie reviews by unemployed stoner English BA’s who need that space. Unless that site is some kind of performance art, I’m going to go hide my head and cry for America.

“After the Civil War, this changed.”

Let me get this straight. He’s racist against Italian and Irish immigrants?

I strongly suspect the fact that I did not understand the SANE intro is a testament to my mental stability. However, I would like to join their “Mapping Shari’a in America Project,” sounds like fun, with plenty of opportunity to discuss precious bodily fluids ‘n stuff.

Check out this detail, via the American Spectator:

This was, in the first place, because of the massive size of these sites and the extreme lengths to which the Iraqis had gone to conceal them. Three of them were bunkers buried 20 to 30 feet beneath the Euphrates. They had been constructed through building dams which were removed after the huge subterranean vaults had been excavated so that these were concealed beneath the river bed. The bunker walls were made of reinforced concrete five feet thick.

That’s right — Saddam’s urge for secrecy was so great that he diverted the Euphrates for the duration of a major construction project. Because there’s no way that the US would have noticed that with spy satellites or anything.

    But of course not.

You mean The Spectator, tho, not The American Spectator. The latter is insane (tho wasn’t always), but the former is British and contains the article in question.

You sort of have to assume some things about anybody who spends so much time loudly proclaiming his sanity.

Yeah, but your substantive point — diverting the Euphrates etc. — was so good that I quoted you at Greenwald’s comments (he linked to Jim’s post and is beside himself with amusement at how insane Glaubatz is), with attribution, of course.

They also don’t like the 14th amendment. I’m on board with that. In fact, I’d like to see all the amdments removed except for the 2nd (which would then make it the 1st !).

Seriously though, where do these people shop for groceries? With such a paranoid outlook, isn’t everything suspect?

A New Wingnut Saddam Had WMD Conspiracy Theory…

    The Liberal Avenger

A wingnut blogger writes about the latest WMD discovery in Iraq
There’s a new conspiracy theory on the right, involving Saddam Hussein’s missing Weapons of Mass Destruction, Syria, Russia, China, North Korea, al-Qaeda…

Here’s some more from Saneworks for you:

Jew Hatred? Why do some conservatives focus so much criticism and even vitriol on the Jews?
Example Quote: “The conservative variety simply professes to uncover the many and varied ways Jews destroy their host nations like a fatal parasite, especially when the host is a Western nation-state. But, the focus on this menacing and accursed people is only thinly disguised and one can well understand why. ”

The Christian Science Monitor: Young Black Men at Risk
Example quote: “Is it possible that the culture of blacks in America is just not appropriate for America?”

    Don Imus and PC Hypocrisy
Example quote:”After Jewish comics like Lenny Bruce and other entertainers broke the initial barriers and when the ugliest of the African American culture became mainstream, the dammed waters were let loose to flood our society with filth.”

Israel: The Advanced Case of Western Affliction
“There is yet to be an important and vitally interesting analysis to be done to understand why typically non-religious Jews in Israel and in the West, mostly in the US, lead the charge for this world state. Is it rooted in a statelessness history much the way the blacks in this country look toward slavery as a source for so much of their cultural failings or is there something else at work for these liberal Jews?”

Pushing the Envelope on Racism and Immigration: Is It Worth Even Thinking About?
Example quote :”The whole subject of racism or bigotry is important because it has become the bogeyman of modern times. But, it is just that, a bogeyman. This essay will try and get those of you who recoil from “racism” and “bigotry” to understand that you are a racist and a bigot, unless you are a fool or evil.”

Murders in New York City and the Race Card
Example quote: “That the African-American sub-culture promotes crime and violence, illiteracy, sexual domination, and social irresponsibility is no secret.”

How to destroy race in America
Example quote: “4/13: Well, just think. The Don Imus types of the world will soon be a thing of the past. America will know no race. Whites will intermarry with blacks. Blacks from Africa and the Caribbean and Latinos from south of the border will continue to pour over our borders and whites will continue to intermarry. Before you know it, Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow will be grey-brown. One color fits all. The white man will be dead, at least in America.”
On Race: A Tentative Discussion, Part I
Example quote: “With all of the liberal talk of evolution and biology, why do people find it so difficult to confront the facts that some races perform better in sports, some better in mathematical problem solving, some better in language, some better in Western societies and some better in tribal ones?”

On Race: A Tentative Discussion, Part II
Example quote:” There is a reason the founding fathers did not give women or black slaves the right to vote. You might not agree or like the idea but this country’s founders, otherwise held in the highest esteem for their understanding of human nature and its affect on political society, certainly took it seriously. Why is that? Were they so flawed in their political reckonings that they manhandled the most important aspect of a free society – the vote? If the vote counts for so much in a free and liberal democracy as we “know” it today, why did they limit the vote so dramatically?”

Click the links and read the articles and check out more of their site, there’s way more where this came from.

I’ll stand by my judgment that you’re a racist whackjob. The fact that you’ve been to these places and done those things doesn’t change that. Hnudreds of thousands of Americans have rotated through those places and tens of thousands have done those jobs. A few folks like you are going to slip through.

Oh David, David, David Gaubatz, what planet are you on?

So you think that your State Department Arabic, plus your oft-boasted military postings in the Middle East, give you some sort of superiority?

Before you ask, I have a PhD in Arabic Lingustics (I am also fluent in Kiswahili, Amharic, and Somali, but hey), and have worked extensively in Saudi, Qatar, and Kuwait (to name a few).

In the course of my travels, I have met a number of US gov’t/military bods, so I know a) how poor their Arabic really is; and b)how skewed their analyses are.

But anyway – my point is this: when faced with uncomfortable questions, isn’t pulling rank just intellectual laziness?

    Mr. Gaubatz
Your most recent “penetration” to Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center has proven you to be an authentic fake, former intel something.

You did not quote anyone for anything you claimed but your fake self. You made so many scary claims to America, if we dont do this and that.
Feeding your frinzy, and your ego, is not good for feeding your family. If it sounds like you were feeding fear to your countrymen, it seems you also failed. Thank God we have enough smart true Americans who can sort facts from fakes.

Keep penetrating until you understand something. But don’t try to deceive US. If your service in so many places has taught you anything, it seems, it just reinforced your obvious and previously entrinched bigotry.
