Very Serious, Thoughtful LOLcats That Have Never Been Made in Such Detail or with Such Care
Given that
there is no evidence that [Jonah Goldberg] has actually written anything other than the subtitle — again and again and again, like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. And now he is even rewriting that. The original subtitle, “The Totalitarian Temptation from Mussolini to Hillary Clinton,” had to be changed, probably because the publisher worried that Hillary Clinton would no longer be President by the time the book came out
reasonable conservative Jon Swift pitches in to help a reasonable brother out: Liberal Fascism: LOLcat Style! Swift has done good work based on “a few tantalizing hints as to what the book is going to be about once [Jonah] starts writing it,” but Swift’s real aim is to get everyone out there on Web 2.0 to make their own contributions, since that way he doesn’t have to write the whole book eiither.

He raises an interesting point: are cats liberal or conservative pets? I sorta thought all conservatives liked big, slobbery dogs, golden retrievers or labs or something. Cats, like the Clintons’ Socks, always seemed more liberal too me, being that they’re aloof and snobby and such. (Actually, I’m both liberal and a cat person, so I’m biased here.) Still, is there an ideological breakdown on pets? breeds of pets? Mammals v. other vertabrates v. icky nasty things I have my husband squish?

Some books are so stupid any attempt to parody them will amount to editorial improvements. So leave Jonah alone–it sounds like no one can possibly write something dumber than he can.

But what is the fun in that?
