Women’s Problems
Not me so much, supposedly . . .
You Are 96% Feminist |
![]() You are a total feminist. This doesn’t mean you’re a man hater (in fact, you may be a man). You just think that men and women should be treated equally. It’s a simple idea but somehow complicated for the world to put into action. |
I suspect I don’t qualify under the more stringent criteria.

So you lost %4 with either one-”not sure”, or with two-”agree”. I lost ten percent on “there is no such thing as a mans job”. ‘Male stripper’, duh!

Geez I hate quizzes like this. Just parsing the first question:
“Women should be economically and socially independent. They shouldn’t rely on men to take care of them.”
I mean, it depends. If a woman / man couple has a mutually dependent relationship, I see nothing wrong with that. For example, if a woman works and a man keeps house or only works part time, I see nothing wrong with that, despite the fact that a considereable degree of economic dependence by the man on the woman will exist. I see nothing wrong with the gender roles being reversed in this type of relationship, so that the d00d is working and the chick is making great art, or maintaining household, or self-employed or whatevs.
Is that what the question is asking me about? Or is it something else? The question is a Rorsach (sp?) blot, and I get to read any self-serving assumptions I want into it. Why do people even bother?
What is socially independent anyway? If person A’s social life revolves around their job and person b has a koffee klatsch, which is the more socially independent one?
Is answering “not sure” to every question at all indicative about one’s degree of feminism?

Indeed, since the Feministe criteria are “every existing negative stereotype of a feminist, plus a few brand new ones* just for good measure,” as usual.
*I mean, bloody hell, try posting a comment over there in Helvetica font, and someone will accuse you of Serifism.

It’s a simple idea but somehow complicated for the world to put into action.
Because, as everyone knows, the world always conforms with simple ideas.

Another winner of a question:
Two women “should” be able to have children. Biology “should” be different than it is! Well… I don’t agree with that, not because it wouldn’t be handy, but because I think the word “should” indicates moral freighting. “Should” should not be applied to statements of fact. It is not correct to say either “predators should kill prey” or “predator should not kill prey”. They do, and that is that.
As if that’s not bad enough… the question does not define “anyone”, as consenting, adult, sentient, or possibly even alive. I do not believe that a woman should be able to marry and have kids with a 5-year old, for example, or a rock, or a man who does not want her. Yet the plain meaning of the phrase “anyone she wants” indicates that I should agree with that.
Of course, I know what the question writer intended. “Should” refers only to marriage, not the physical ability to create kids, who can also be adopted. “Anyone” means only consenting adults, probably not already married ones if it will get you to agree to the question.
In other words, what the question writer really meant to say was:
Or something like that.
But it really grates on me when I am supposed to interpret a question so that I can answer it in the approved way. Why not ask, instead: “are you a feminist?” and be done with it.

I’ve long thought that it would be cool if someone created a web quiz thingie that was wikified in allowing users to create and revise questions and answers on the fly. Presumably after a while a question would stabilize after grammar nazis and petty lawyers (e.g., me on that last post) pound on it; and then gradually the set of answers, too, would converge. Then you might actually get a quiz that could reveal something beyond the blindspots of the person who wrote it.

clearly this survey was cobbled together by a woman…I safely answered 3 or 4 questions as “not sure,” and now I’m 75% feminist.
