Another 9/11 Please, For the Good of the GOP, er, Country

By Mona
ONE MONTH from The Anniversary, I’m thinking another 9/11 would help America.
Ward Churchill said that, right? Wrong; it was a wingnut named Stu Bykofsky in the Philadelphia Daily News longing for another 9/11. And not only that, others on the right think it is a peachy keen aspiration. As Tim F. at Balloon Juice puts it:
…what would happen if Ward Churchill had said terrorist attacks on the US would be a good thing?
.
[The] [b]logosphere right would throw a yearlong tantrum over the issue and would go on calling Democrats “the party of Stu Bykofsky” into perpetuity, conveniently ignoring the fact that virtually nobody defended or cared about what Stu Bykofsky had to say.

The guy is certainly a nitwit. I haven’t yet seen anyone else in the blogosphere say otherwise, though, so while Tim’s complaint may be true, the fact is that the only attention Bykofsky is getting on this is negative, at least as far as I can tell. Admittedly, I haven’t been looking for it, so perhaps blogs I do not frequent are all talking about what a wonderful idea this is.

Don’t know about the blogosphere, but he made the tour of right-wing radio and TV, as the Think Progress post I linked to says:

Bykofsky’s biggest booster, however, was Fox News. Yesterday morning’s Fox and Friends did a segment on his column. Later in the afternoon, Bykofsky appeared on The Big Story, where host John Gibson agreed with and validated Bykofsky’s thesis. “I think it’s going to take a lot of dead people to wake America up,” said Gibson.

If Bykofsky were a Muslim, he’d be in Gitmo already.

    :)

    Mona,

Fair enough. I guess I don’t get out enough.
