In Memoriam

Max Sawicky, pending former blogger. Max is, needless to say, well to the left of me on economics. But we had substantial areas of agreement on foreign policy and, as he himself said today,

But politics should not be practiced on religious principles or as blood feud. Politics is about getting stuff done. No self-respecting liberal hero in Congress would pass up an opportunity to block with a rightie if it meant passing some useful legislation.

Max put his beliefs into practice with one of the blogosphere’s most “brilliant mistakes,” the Stand Down anti-Iraq war site, aka “NoWarBlog.” Stand Down’s failure was not Max’s.

Meantime, I welcomed the challenge of his economics writing. I wish he weren’t going to stop blogging.

MaxSpeak, Notes from the Lounge, and Too Hot for TNR are all shutting down within days of each other? This is the end of blogging as we know it.
