Banana Republicans: Get Thee Gone, Ron Paul!

By Mona
.
Captain Ed thinks Redstate’s Leon made a mistake in banning what Leon labels “zany” Ron Paul supporters because, insightfully notes the Captain:
There are worse impulses than libertarianism.
Why yes, I can think of a few “worse impulses!” Say, maybe, neoconservatives who pimp for yet more war-mongering and carnage, my emphasis:
[Gen. David Petraeus and Lt. Gen. Raymond Modern's] reluctance to take credit for the defeat of al Qaeda and other terrorists in Iraq is due to the uncertain outcome of the big battle now being waged here at home. They, and our soldiers, fear that the political class in Washington may yet snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They know that Iran and Syria still have a free shot at us across long borders, and Gen. Petraeus told Congress last month that it would not be possible to win in Iraq if our mission were restricted to that country.
.

Not a day goes by without one of our commanders shouting to the four winds that the Iranians are operating all over Iraq, and that virtually all the suicide terrorists are foreigners, sent in from Syria.

Right. God save this Republic from the “zanies” who — unlike Dr. Ledeen — don’t want to “cauldronize” the Middle East. Long may the neocons be venerated by the banana Republicans at Redstate, and the libertarians expelled for their peaceful, truly insane ways.

You know, I see Iranians, Syrians, and Al Qaeda operating freely in Iraq and I think to myself “Perhaps we made a mistake somewhere along the way….” But other people see the same conditions and think “And now we have to do EVEN MORE of what we were doing!”

I thought that was the point of Redstate; to give Tacitus a place to bloviate pompously about worshipping various neocon theories. Since the other blog wasn’t clubby enough.

Has Dr. Michael Ledeen ever been right about any policy issue ever? I’m curious, because from the time I’ve first heard his name it has always been attached to theories and statements that have only proven wrong. But then I’ve only been interested in politics and policy for a few years now, so I may have missed some of his earlier successes.

I think they might be isolationists.

    Defend the borders!
