It’s an Honor Just to Be Nominated

Could it be Daniel Davies’ “One Minute MBA – Avoiding Projects Pursued By Morons 101,” that is actually the greatest blog post of all time? It certainly saves one time in figuring out what to think about the revival of Ahmed Chalabi’s political career:

There is much made by people who long for the days of their fourth form debating society about the fallacy of “argumentum ad hominem”. There is, as I have mentioned in the past, no fancy Latin term for the fallacy of “giving known liars the benefit of the doubt”, but it is in my view a much greater source of avoidable error in the world.

Nominated in comments downblog.

No, the Holbo post(s) on Daniel Frum’s magnum opus are. Or, where did all the Donner Party people go, anyways?

This should be useful during the coming selling of the Iran fiasco

That Frum post is indeed magnificent, and is – seriously – what tipped the balance for me in being willing to say “I think that the conservative movement is led by people who prefer their public scared and dependent.”

Yeah, but they only lie about Iraq, not other stuff.

The other dsquared post that I keep coming back to (as does Brad DeLong) is this one, which is valuable not just for its three-part question, but its refreshing[ly British] dismissiveness towards Thomas Friedman, an inherently silly man.

Funny you should say that because just this morning I was thinking that Daniel Davies’ “The Economics of Pound’s Canto XLV” might be the greates blog post of all time. (Scroll down — I think your commenting engine is keeping me from including an anchor in my link URL; or it might just be a quirk of the preview software.)

    Re: Holbo and Dead Right,

I always liked another John/Belle post, namely, Belle’s famous anti-libertarian diatribe that, among other things, singlehandedly introduced the “pony” trope into blogospheric discourse. Where would we be today without it?

dsquared is very good, but i’ve always loved what the editors had to say about what “the real story” was about noted man-whore jeff gannon.

I just remembered Neal Pollack’s pitch perfect send up of Andrew Sullivan’s 2002 barebacking “scandal.”

    Teabagging.
