The Culture of Life

Mitt Romney declares that “Our most basic civil liberty is the right to be kept alive.” That’s wonderfully phrased, “kept alive.” What is Mitt Romney’s ideal republic? The nation as Terri Schiavo. Brain-dead, inert, confined and perpetuated without point. Hail Mitt! All the strands of contemporary Republicanism unite in thee.

    This isn’t the first time he’s said that, by the way. He said it first back in the debate in September. Ok, one of the debates in September. Except back then it was even more groan-inducing since it specifically indicated that not only is the most basic civil liberty the right to be kept alive, it is the right to be kept alive by the government.

    So – does that mean we get universal health care before, or only after, we’re in a persistent vegetative state? And either way, isn’t that socialism?

    Thank you Mitt for summing up the very thing that will finish off the GOP in this country. You Republicans can go quake in the closet peeing your pants and hiding from the big bad Islamic Bogey Man. The rest of us are going to elect a Democrat and get on with our lives.
