Footballblogging: Streakwatch IV
I present the funniest football-related quote in forever:
Larry Csonka, the ‘72 Dolphins’ fullback and primary offensive weapon, went on record two weeks ago saying Belichick was risking a Super Bowl title by playing his starters too long, particularly quarterback Tom Brady.
“He isn’t pulling his people out,” Csonka said before ceremonies Dec. 16 honoring the ‘72 team at Dolphin Stadium. “He’s got a Super Bowl to worry about. Why would you even play Brady the next two games? Why would you even take a chance?”
Remember Googlebombs? If anyone had the energy, they should rig one so that every search on Larry Csonka takes one to the “Concern Troll” entry in Urban Dictionary, and every search on Concern Troll takes one to a picture of Larry Csonka.

Good old Larry. Frankly I’d thought he’d reached his low point as an analyst on American Gladiators.
Obviously I overestimated him.

Ah, I am chagrinned. Who would think that I would find an extension of the Massachusetts Bay Colony Smug Stream on a blog devoted to theoretical politics?
& while that Smug Weather System might seem ponderous, now, we in North America are in for a surprise if the Pats become the fifth team in NFL history with an undefeated regular season. The Smug Cloud will linger for thirty years, affecting our morale by orders of magnitude greater than the Pinatubo eruption affected global weather.

If you think the pain will be less after the Patriots win the Super Bowl this year, you are insane. We’re going to have to hear about these Patriots forever and ever and ever. They are going to be the consensus Greatest of All Time. The Dolphins were long-enough ago that their claims for being the best ever had become faintly ridiculous. Now we’re going to have to live with the real thing.
