More about Ron Paul
By Thoreau
Here’s my basic problem with this: His response has simply been to say that he does not agree with those things, without explaining what actually happened.
No, I’m not looking for a big display of contrition now, and a head rolling now. That would only mean that he’s sorry about getting caught. Rather, I would like to know that when it happened he did 2 things: (1) Fire the person involved and (2) Publish a renunciation of racist sentiments in his newsletter. It’s easy to grandstand when you’re caught. It’s better to just handle things right when they happen, and set things straight right then and there.
As an analogy, if I discovered that a research collaborator had engaged in misconduct that compromised a published article, I would do 2 things: (1) End all ties with the collaborator and (2) send a retraction to the journal for publication. I would not just handle it “quietly.” That doesn’t mean I would grandstand for all the world to see and seek attention, but I would do concrete and documented things that I could point to later. If you handle things the right way when it happens, then you don’t need to make a big production and let heads roll in public later on.
If he didn’t do those things at the time, if he didn’t see those statements in his name as a problem in need of correction, then it raises a lot of questions. I really don’t think he’s a bigot. The man is quite open about all sorts of opinions that are out of the mainstream. If he were a bigot he’d let it out. On the other hand, a failure to correct things done in his name raises questions about his sincerity, and makes me wonder whether he’s a better actor than I’ve given him credit for.

Yes, because she is not a female of species Homo sapiens who has, for some 15 years, been treated to almost unprecedentedly vicious, febrile and base attacks on her as a person. She is a mannequin, who could never do what many real women do, which is to get wet-eyed when exhausted and overwhelmed by incredible amounts of lengthy, pack-dog abuse.
The woman can’t win for losin’ with the punditocracy. She is either the Ice Queen Bitch of Drudge’s initial creation, or she tears up, and is then a girly girl unfit for office.

I think your response was misposted. I’ll respond on the other thread.

Wait, there’s a picture of Hillary crying in the 1994 Ron Paul newsletter?
Man, this just keeps getting worse.

I mean, come on, you want the guy that wrote this (or had his name and signature attached to it like he wrote it) to be president? Or hell, even a Congressman?
Pay particular attention to page six, third paragraph from the bottom.
