No Thanks, I’ll Do It Myself

Arlen Specter embarrasses himself while accusing the NFL of trying to embarrass him. “Spygate” is not Congressional business. The best case you can make is that whatever Arlen Specter focuses on turns to shit, so it’s best if he distracts himself from the real Issues of the Day. But it’s just not fair to the NFL.

In these times of peace and prosperity, the Senate has little else on which to focus.

I guess Specterin’ Arlin feels that if the House can have fun with steroid hearings, he can have some of that action too.

Even people who think it was a good idea for Congress to hold hearings about steroids think this is stupid.

I hate the NFL enough to enjoy this, though.

Pace Cala, I think having Congress focus on the NFL would be better than having them “help” the economy. But I realize that the people here aren’t that kind of old-fashioned “laissez-faire” libertarians, and that most of them think Congress is shirking its responsibility to help “grow” the economy.

And yet! That’s pretty much what I wrote.

“But it’s just not fair to the NFL.”

It’s hard for me to work up much sympathy for what may be the country’s best example of corporate welfare queens.

Live by the socialist sword, die (or least be subject to uncomfortable scrutiny) by it.
