Dammit, We ‘mericans Need Disinformation, Or the Terrorists Will Win!

I had not realized that the insurgents had been pummeling us in an “information war” (and thus in the war on terror/Iraq) in our establishment media, thus requiring Bush and the Pentagon to brief retired military and send them out with misleading and false talking points to sell to the body politic on Fox/CNN/MSNBC & etc. But the Good German American, Armed Liberal, is on it at Winds of Change, where he is pouting over various bloggers who object to what our Leader and his puppets are peddling (my emphasis):
If we’re engaged in counterinsurgency, public diplomacy and information warfare – which the insurgent side are very good at, spends a lot of time doing, and where the mainstream media only recently grudgingly backed away from the most egregious, falsified examples of their work – is a critical component, according to pretty much everyone who has written on the subject.[...]I don’t think it’s wrong to be concerned about the government shaping the news. I think it’s necessary to shape perception as a part of any successful counterinsurgency.
But of course! Victory — however defined — can be had only if the military commentators who hold forth to Wolf Blitzer lie, distort and cheerlead a misbegotten war ! Duh!
