Grand New Party
The Republican base that will be left after this election. Somehow the GOP is going to please these people and fashion a future winning coalition. Go for it.

These people are a walking advertisement for socialised medicine. No individual, no single hospital, no one insurance company, not even AIG, could hope to provide as much help as they need.

Somewhat off-topic question for Jim: How much do the skinhead wanna-be Obama assassins have in common with the Seas of David? Main difference I can see is that the skinheads’ over-the-top plot while ultimately as unlikely to succeed as a Sears Tower bombing, would nonetheless have involved a hell of a lot of deaths of innoncents even if it was stopped early on.

Tom, I’ve actually been reminding myself to apply the same skepticism to this story that has turned out to be warranted in so many other alleged domestic terrorism cases. I haven’t seen enough details yet to tell whether it was the meth talking, or these guys were moving through the steps of a real plan.

It looks to me like it was the meth talking. These people are scary but luckily not too smart.

I still say it’s going to be Artie Bremer, with the Luger, in Louisville, KY. Methamphetamine has nothing on genuine crazy.

If there’s any evidence of their having been moving along on an actual plan to kill students — nearby and unprotected by Secret Service — that’s seriously awful and scary.
Until more details appear, though, I’m inclined to agree with the commenter at Obsidian Wings who expressed skepticism at this pair’s ability to execute the ‘rent tuxedos’ step of the plan.

The thing to remember is that you can be a nonfunctional nut with a 75 IQ, and still manage to kill a bunch of people. Just ask the ghosts of all the victims of the Virginia Tech wacko. Indeed, you can be a nonfunctional nut who makes a serious attempt on the president’s life–just ask Squeaky Fromm and John Hinkley.
