Science Blogging Round-up

By Thoreau

1)  There is life after grant rejection for old particle accelerators.

2)  We Evil Fiziks Types are turning your precious bodily fluids into diamonds.

3)  Nanobama!  This horde of self-replicating nanomachines will seize control of our physical assets by reprogramming their constituent atoms, and then activate a program that will cause all of this physical wealth to be spread around!  This is the true mechanism of the economic Obamageddon.

Ah, you noticed. I was going to let you know that we had another physics posting. I’d been looking for an excuse to post another tequila shortage story and this one was forwarded to me last week. As I told highnumber, if you physicists were worth anything, you’d be able to distill tequila from diamonds!

Obama joining the ranks of the nanoputians, is he?

Those nanoputians are 2 nm tall. The Nanobamas are more than 0.5 mm, and they’re only heads. So Nanobama would be easily a million times taller than the nanoputians. The Nanobamas have the “nano” prefix only because they’re made of nanotubes. They don’t rate it for their size.
