Lately, I keep bumping into this notion, both from one neocon on an email list I subscribe to, and now from the truly illiterate and imbecilic “Macsmind” blog:

We won the war and lefty [sic] journalists like [Thomas] Ricks just can’t stand that fact.

I’m much more bullish than my co-blogger on the appointments of Panetta and Johnsen. As far as I am concerned, if there was going to be "a sop to the left" or two in the appointments, these were the best places to have them. It’ll be interesting to see the Serious People of both parties [...]
