Liberty and Justice for Some

By Thoreau

I often dislike intertubez invocations of “privilege”, because the intertubez commenters invoking it often want a magic “I WIN TEH DEBATE” button.  However, I think the Onion has perfectly encapsulated some very, very real aspects of white privilege.

    That is brilliant satire.

It looked like that was a clip from the new IFC tv show. If that is so, I need to make sure I don’t miss any more episodes.

    That was well done.

Reminds me of the David Chappelle skit about the difference between police treatment of drug dealers and white collar criminals.

Very nice, and I too may need to make sure I don’t miss more of this.

As for the “I WIN TEH DEBATE” thing, I don’t actually see that much, but I suspect that probably has to do with who I am debating. However, I will absolutely agree that privilege should be thrown in to move a debate forward and get at what’s actually going on. When it gets thrown as a trump card, it’s usually pretty useless.
