Pax. Ill.
The funniest thing about ex-Cheney goon John Hannah’s whine about how it’s no fun around here any more is that he refers to our late “regional order” as “Pax Americana.” Should Pax Americana have come with some, you know, peace? (Via Kevin Drum.)

It’s just an expression, like “Dutch courage.”

The Pax Romana only meant peace for those living in the empire (& even then, not really)so I guess the comparison works.

A guy who writes for the Foundation of the Defense of Democracies or some such is complaining that we have separated ourselves from the Mubarak dictatorship and are not fully aligned with family dynasties in — gulp — saudi arabia and bahrain.
With “democracy defense” meaning stuff like that, why shouldn’t he keep using that word Pax, as I do think for him it means whatever he thinks it means?
